DESCRIPTION ----------- ----------- InOut is a windows network utility designed to replace the magnetic in and out tracking boards. It was created to be both simple and quick to use in tracking where people in a company or department are. It operates on any network, consumes only two to four percent of system resources and provides color-coordinated tracking. In our department there was no convenient place to put a magnetic in and out board where everyone could see it and would use it, so we created the InOut board to allow anyone to see where the staff was. By color coordinating locations, red-physically out, green-in, blue or yellow-within the building. You can tell at a glance if the person you're looking for is available. The copy provided here supports up to 12 employees and unlimited locations each stored in a database. The board display updates every 30 seconds so changes are immediate. The registered version of InOut supports up to 48 employees and a large and small format. The small format displays 12 employees and the large one 24. Included with both versions is the "note" feature; by double clicking on the employee's name a note box appears where a detailed location or explanation can be entered. A "note pin" will appear beside the employee name. The InOut board has proved to be a very useful tool for us. We hope for the $20 registration fee you too will find it indispensable. We at KEER Consulting welcome your comments or suggestions. HOW TO INSTALL INOUT ------------------- ------------------- 1. Copy these files into the a group that everyone in that group can access on the network example "f:\users\mis\inout" inout.exe inout.mdb inout.ini 2. copy all the *.vbx and *.dll into the public directory so everyone has access to them, or copy them into there windows system directory, but copying the to the public directory on the network is better. 3. Change the inout.ini file to point to where the database file is located (*.mdb) example. dbfdir= f:\users\mis\inout 4. Create a new program item in program manager by selecting INOUT.exe. **** Make sure that the (Working Directory) points to where the INOUT.exe is located, because the first time inout is loaded it copies the inout.ini into there windows directory !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Using INOUT ---------- ---------- We kept it very simple. 1. Under update employees fill in the information for of the employees in you department. 2. Under Update location enter every place that they can hide (LUNCH, MIS, BREAK, Personnel, ext...) 3. Pick a color for that location. We found out the simple the better ours is set up like this. in = green lunch, break, sick = red at another site = blue in another department but in the building = yellow 4. That's it if you go someplace you just select where you went. 6. An extra feature. If you need elaborate on where you went double click on your name and a msgbox comes up, fill in some information and click exit. A pin will be displayed that they can click to read your message. To remove message and pin just clear message. That's it..... have fun
